“Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.” Matthew 28:19

 

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15

 

“And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.” Luke 24:47

 

Dear brethren, are we obeying this great commandment?

 

You may say it is the duty of the evangelists. Yes, it is. But who is an evangelist? Any one who preaches Gospel!

 

You may say that you are giving tithe of your income for Gospel work. Well, God will definitely reward you. But don’t boast, the Levites who had no income of their own used to give tithe, even most of our Evangelists do!

 

You may say that you have never got a call for Gospel work. You might not have. Only those who listen will hear a call. Listen carefully to the Lord’s voice; sure you will hear. He may not call every one as full time ministers, but every believer has a part in it. Think of a football team. Each player has a different position and every one’s effort is required to win a match.

 

Yes brethren, it’s our duty to preach the Gospel to others.

 

“Rescue the perishing - duty demands it;

Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide

Back to the narrow way- patiently win them;

Tell the poor wanderer a Savior has died.”(Fannie Crosby)

 

“Christ's ministers must catch at all occasions of doing good to others, in regard of the work which they are about, and that is saving of souls. What a precious thing is a soul! Christ takes, as it were, a pair of scales in his hands and he puts the world in one scale and the soul in the other, and the soul outweighs (Matthews 16: 26). The soul is of a noble origin, of a quick operation; it is a flower of eternity; here, in the bud; in heaven, fully ripe and blown. The soul is one of the richest pieces of embroidery that ever God made, the understanding bespangled with light, the will invested with liberty, the affections like musical instruments tuned with the finger of the Holy Ghost. Now if the souls of men are of so noble an extract and made capable of glory, oh how zealously industrious should Christ’s ministers be to save these souls! If Christ spent his blood for souls, well may we spend our sweat? It was Augustine’s prayer that Christ might find him at his coming either praying or preaching. What a sad sight is it to see precious souls as so many pearls and diamonds cast into the dead sea of hell?” (Thomas Watson)

 

Paul says:

“And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation” 2 Corinthians 5:18

 

“Woe is unto me if I preach not the Gospel” 1 Corinthians 9:16

 

How can we evangelize while on our secular jobs?

 

• Tell about the Savior to your friends, colleagues and neighbors.

• Pray for Gospel work and the workers.

• Support financially Gospel ministries and evangelists.

• Distribute tracts -by hand, e-mail or post.

 

Brethren, are you just satisfied with giving tithe? We have much more to do. The day is almost over. We may not get enough time to enjoy our savings in this world. Shall we do something for the Lord and earn some credits in the heavenly bank account?
